Chico St. vs. Fog - March 29

On Saturday, March 29, the Fog Women hosted the Chico State women’s squad in a friendly scrimmage on Treasure Island. In a match that featured four Fog players brand-new to the hooligan sport of rugby, the Fog Women held their own against a formidable Chico side, converted well in their line-outs and scrums, and as head coach Kevin “BMK” Sullivan stated, the Fog Women “learned that they are very dangerous out wide.” Not to mention an excellent time was had by all at the reverent third half.

Fog vs. Petaluma - March 29

On Saturday, March 29, the Fog Men traveled an hour north to square off against the Petaluma Leghorns. Finishing up the NCRFU Season, the Fog Men completed their rite-of-passage within one of the toughest rugby divisions in all of America.

As the NCRFU Season closes and the Mark Kendall Bingham Rugby Tournament opens, the Fog finds itself more capable than ever imagined. As for the rest of Saturday, both the Fog and Leghorns celebrated their efforts for the match and season in a riveting third half.

Marin vs. Fog - March 15

The Fog Men played its fifth match of the 2008 NCRFU Season against longtime-rivals the Marin Reds. The Fog fought with conviction and passion for all 80 minutes, rallying from behind with two quick tries and tasting victory only a few feet away, in what may have been the Fog Men’s best effort of the season thus far.

SFSU vs. Fog - March 15

The illustrious Fog B-Side celebrated a glorious day of rugby as victors of a hard-fought contest against the evenly-matched SFSU Gators collegiate rugby club, scoring four tries to the Gators’ two. The game was a testament to how far the Fog B-Side has come, and how much farther they can go.

Fog vs. Berkeley - March 8

With half of the 2008 NCRFU Season behind them, the Fog Men met halfway with across-the-bay rivals Berkeley RFC for a riveting league match in the middle of the bay, giving it their complete all for the whole game in which Berkeley prevailed in the end.

Shortly after, the ever-progressing Fog B Side suited up for a seconds match with the Berkeley B Side, playing a hard-fought match.

Fog vs. Berkeley - March 1

The Fog Women returned to the pitch for 2008 by competing in a friendly match against national champions Berkeley All-Blues. Though faced with adversity, the Fog showed excellent defense at the base of the scrum and recycled the ball well in a game played in three 30-minute “halves.”

Fog vs. Stanislaus, March 1

On the first day of March, the Fog Men continued on their 2008 season, traveling for two hours into the central valley for a league match against the Stanislaus Harlots in Modesto, CA. The game proved to be a well-fought high-scoring affair, as the Fog scored more tries than in any previous league match in history. Though the final outcome showed the Harlots as the victors, the Fog emerged with a renewed sense of vigor that is sure to emanate in future matches.

Shortly after, the Fog B-Side continued on their progression towards pre-eminence, scoring a hard-fought try towards the end of the contest. A great time was had by all of the players and supporters.

Mission vs. Fog - February 23

After a three-week hiatus, the Fog Men welcomed Mission RFC, a formidable NCRFU Division III opponent, to its home pitch on Treasure Island for the second match of the Men’s 2008 Season. The match was close for the first 40 minutes, with Mission pulling away with the victory in the end.

Shortly after, the up-and-coming Fog B-Side, victors of their last match three weeks earlier, squared off against the San Jose Mauraders B-Side on the same pitch, and a great time was had by all amidst the harsh weather conditions.

Fog vs. Aptos - February 2

The Fog opened their NCRFU Division III 2008 men’s season against the Aptos Beach Dogs on a Saturday defined by temperatures in the high 40’s, moderate winds and light rain.

Amidst the harsh weather and muddy pitch, the Fog brought its A game among their players, coaches and supporters in what proved to be a very engaging match, resulting in a final score of Aptos 18, Fog 5.

Shortly after, the Fog B Side, who braced the elements for hours before, played in the seconds match and prevailed with a hard-fought win.

Silverhawks vs. Fog - January 26

The San Francisco Fog’s B Side squared off against the San Jose Silverhawks on Saturday, January 26, a day of 50 degree temperatures and light drizzle.

In the words of Fog Coach Ken Bousfield, “A great day for rugby was had by all yesterday. The Silverhawks a lot the Fog a few. Many thanks to the Silverhawks in braving the storms and coming out to play. There are always lessons to be learned during all games win, lose or draw. Awesome player turnout!!! Fantastic commitment from all who played to the final whistle.”
