The Men of the San Francisco Fog will play in a round-robin day of rugby on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st.
The Fog will be joined by Berkeley RFC and the San Bruno Saints in round-robin play, with multiple sides from Berkeley and the Fog taking part. The day will include a total of six 40-minute games at the Fog Rugby pitch on Treasure Island with first kickoff at 11am.
Also on Saturday, the Fog Women will travel to Palo Alto to take part in the annual Stanford 10s Tournament. The tournament takes place at Stanford’s Steuber Rugby Stadium and begins bright and early at 7:45am.
Training for both the Fog Men and Fog Women continues every Tuesday and Thursday, from 7:30 to 9:30pm.
This Friday, October 16, join the men and women of Fog Rugby at the LookOut Bar in the Castro to enjoy all the Budweiser beer you can drink from 6pm to 9pm for only $10!

After securing a solid victory in Tempe, Arizona, this past weekend, the Fog Women finished fifth overall in West Coast Division I. The Fog beat Tempe 35-24 to edge out the same team in the final rankings, only narrowly missing the D1 playoffs. The club at large is proud of such a strong showing for the women in only their fourth season as a team.
The Fog Women will continue to play on into the post-season with tournaments and scrimmages.
A California bill, signed into law by governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Sunday, honors the life of Harvey Milk, California’s first openly gay politician elected to public office, by proclaiming his birthday, May 22, as a day of significance across the state each year.
Milk was elected a San Francisco Supervisor in 1977 and served until he and mayor George Moscone were assassinated by Dan White in 1978.
The Fog men are gearing up for the 2009-2010 season with practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30pm - 9:30pm, at the Fog Rugby pitch.
The men’s first pre-season game is on Saturday, October 17.
Join Fog Rugby on Treasure Island this Saturday, October 10, for touch rugby, barbecue, and a front-row seat to the Fleet Week Air Show!
Touch will begin at 11am, followed by a BYOM/BYOB* BBQ at 1pm. The air show begins at 12:30pm.

Interested in learning the basics of rugby in a fun, no-pressure atmosphere?
Join us on Saturday, October 3rd for a full day of rugby instruction, fun, camaraderie, and a BBQ with beer and great food and folks.
No experience is necessary — we’ll teach you everything you need to know. And men and women of all shapes and sizes are welcome!
You will learn basics of rugby:
- rugby laws
- tossing and catching the ball
- painless tackling with less effort
- forming rucks and mauls
- line outs
- rugby songs
The Clinic starts at 11:00am (sharp!) on Treasure Island at the Fog Rugby pitch (near the intersection of 9th St and Ave D).
The men’s team will begin practice the following week, on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:30pm.
Note: Participants must be 18 years or older to participate in this Rugby 101, but please feel free to contact us about our Youth Rugby program.
The Fog Women will play the San Diego Surfers on Treasure Island at the Fog Rugby pitch on Saturday, October 3rd.
Kickoff is at 1pm.
