Fog Rugby to Host 2 National Tourneys

The San Francisco Fog RFC is pleased and honored to announce that we will host two prestigious national rugby tournaments later this year.

First up is the Women’s Sevens National Invitational Tournament, slated for August 14-16, 2009. Held on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay, the Women’s Sevens Nationals brings together sixteen teams to determine which is the best women’s 7s side in the country.

Dana Creager, fresh from the USA national team, will coordinate the invitations and seedings of the Sevens tourney. The event coincides with the Men’s USA National Seven’s Championship, which will be hosted by San Francisco Golden Gate RFC.

Then, on November 6-8, 2009, the same Treasure Island location will be host to the USA Rugby Women’s Club Championships. It’s here that the 2009 national women’s champions in Super League, Division I, and Division II will be determined.

The pitches of the Gaelic Athletic Association will serve as the venue for both events, with Fog Rugby’s own Job Corp Field in service as a warmup and practice pitch.

Happy Anniversary, Storm Rugby!

Fog Rugby would like to congratulate our brother club in Arizona, the Phoenix Storm, on their 5th anniversary!

The Storm was founded in July 2004. Eight players and a wayward one-day coach from San Francisco were there at the very start. Since then, the Storm have progressed into a well-respected club in the challenging Arizona Rugby Football Union. The Storm had strong showings in both the New York and Dublin Bingham Cups and often host and travel to other IGRAB teams. Hip hip hooray, Storm Rugby!

Check them out at phoenixstorm.org or on Facebook.
