Fog Fest III
Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 at Treasure Island
Thanks to all who participated in this year's event! Photos from the event can be viewed in our photo gallery.
FogFest is a harlots-style festival, born out of the desire to have a great tournament in San Francisco again. The first FogFest was held in June of 2003 at Fort Scott (in The Presidio). We had four teams with about 75 players, and it was a great success. Everyone had a rockin’ rugby time -- check out the FogFest 2005 gallery.
This year we expect over 200 players representing 35 clubs.
What does your $75 registration fee* get you?
- Full day of rugby (at least 2 games) at beautiful Treasure Island
- High quality FogFest tournament jersey
- Beer all day
- Post-tournament bbq and social
* For those of you would like to participate by drinking beer on the sidelines and going to the social, you can buy a social-only ticket for $20. See the registration for details.
The emphasis at our rugby festival is on both the competition of the sport and on the the fun aspects of rugby. Individuals register and are placed on teams at random -- well semi-randomly, as we do ask your position. (See the event rules for more info.) This provides a great opportunity to play with others you might not ordinarily get to meet -- and it ensures we can create somewhat even teams. The heaviest person on each side serves as your team's Captain for the day. It will most likely be a round-robin, so there are no eliminations (depends on the number of sides)-- everyone gets to play the same number of matches.
The Fog expects this event to grow over the next several years, taking full advantage of our great location, San Francisco's cool weather during the summer, and abundance of things to see and do in the Bay Area. Our goal is to provide you with a great day of rugby and fun at the lowest possible cost.
One of the unforgettable events of FogFest is the Saturday night party, whose details are meant to evoke the spirit of the wild Barbary Coast of San Francisco's past.
